I led my family's company for 35 years. In March of 2010 I stood a few blocks away and watched it burn to the ground. I sold it in 2024, and somewhere in the quiet after that, I found out how much of me had been living inside a job title.
Then I found a passage in Hebrews I'd read dozens of times and never really sat with. I'd been staring at the consequences of my own decisions like a sentence I was serving. Hebrews let me see them as training I was in. The discipline wasn't punishment. It was a Father conforming a son. This book is that road. It's not written from the finish line, and I haven't arrived. The stories in it are mine, but they were never the point. They're bridges.

Will Knecht
Will Knecht spent 35 years leading Wendell August Forge, the western Pennsylvania hand-forging company his family bought in 1978. In March 2010 he stood five blocks away and watched it burn to the ground with 18,000 pieces inside, due to the Pittsburgh Penguins the next day for the last game at the Civic Arena. Every
employee got out. The town put the company back together, and the order went out on time.
He sold the business in 2024. He now lives in Wilmington, North Carolina, writes the More The Man newsletter twice a week, and is managing partner of Gameday Men's Health across three states. More The Man is his first book. The foreword is by Dr. Brent Allen.
